Laura is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and an LPC Supervisor who was recognized by the Springfield Business Journal as Health Care Champion: Therapist of the year in 2019. She was an adjunct professor at Southwest Baptist University and Drury University teaching classes in psychology and human development. Her twenty plus years of mental health experience includes establishing a private practice where she worked therapeutically with children who had experienced trauma in their young lives. She discovered one of her passions as she began working with women who were rescued from sex trafficking. “I see my role as vital to the healing of beyond skin deep wounds.  Other health professionals have experience in fixing the physical ailments obvious to the human eye.  My role includes identifying invisible pain wounds in the heart as well as scars of the soul.”


Laura earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in music education from School of the Ozarks in 1976. In 1984 she earned her Elementary Teaching Certificate from Southwest Missouri State University. Her educational pursuits earned her a Master of Science degree in guidance and counseling in 1997. The Committee for Professional Counselors awarded her the designation of LPC in 2005 to practice in the state of Missouri.

Current Specialties/Interests:

Laura is a Certified Clinical Anxiety Treatment Professional (CCATP), a Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapist (TF-CBT), and a facilitator for “Trauma Smart,”© a curriculum developed by St. Luke’s Hospital of Kansas City’s Crittenton Children’s Center. She is an independent facilitator for “Parenting the Love and Logic Way”© having trained directly with Jim and Charles Fay, creators of the curriculum. Laura’s specialties include anxiety, depression, marital issues, ADHD, panic attacks and adjustment disorders. Laura has developed an anger management curriculum designed to meet the needs of each participant. Those who complete the program will receive a certificate of completion.
