
Catherine Matthews, MS, PLPC
About:
Catherine is a Provisionally Licensed Professional Counselor (PLPC) under the supervision of Dr. Cindy Baker, LPC, NCC. She enjoys working with children (ages 7+), adolescents, and adults dealing with a variety of challenges, including grief/loss, anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, and stress management. Catherine believes the therapeutic relationship is the foundation for healing and is committed to providing a safe, empathetic environment to process and confront pain, grief, and trauma. Catherine believes it is important for counseling to meet the needs of each client. Her approach to counseling is rooted in person-centered theory but will incorporate techniques from cognitive behavioral therapy, somatic therapy, and strengths-based approaches. She is a Certified Grief Informed Professional and has experience facilitating grief support groups.
Education:
Catherine graduated from Nixa High School. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Psychology with a multicultural certificate from the University of Missouri-Columbia in 2022. Catherine graduated from Missouri State University with a Master of Science in Counseling in 2024. She served as an intern at Touchstone under the supervision of Jenny Baker-Hornick. Catherine is currently provisionally licensed under the supervision of Dr. Cindy Baker.
Current Specialties:
Catherine specializes in working with client who have experienced grief and loss. Catherine is also a Certified Youth Mental Health Specialist and enjoys working with adolescents as they navigate life’s daily challenges. Catherine also offers therapeutic supervised visits.
